Description

The Cactus Canyon Pinball Machine holds a unique place in pinball history: it’s the last traditional table Bally/Williams ever built before the company switched over to the ill-fated Pinball 2000 platform. Released in October 1998 and designed by Tom Kopera and Matt Coriale, only 903 units were ever produced, making an original Cactus Canyon one of the more valuable finds for serious collectors.

You play as the new lawman of Cactus Canyon, tasked with saving the town bank from a robbery, taming wild broncos, and rescuing Polly Peril from a runaway train. Because production was rushed to make way for Pinball 2000, the game’s code was never fully completed — but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the most beloved Western-themed tables of the era, prized for its flow, humor, and mechanically interesting shots.

$6,850.00 — Refurbished, tested before it ships

Key Features Cactus Canyon Pinball Machine

  • Moving Gold Mine with closeable door — the mine gradually opens as you hit it, eventually locking balls toward Gold Mine Multiball
  • 4 popup “Bad Guy” drop targets — knock down the Bart Brothers gang as you work toward the final showdown
  • Moving train on a physical track — an animated toy tied directly into the Save Polly Peril storyline
  • Bart head with popup hat — a signature mechanical toy unique to this table
  • 4 multiball modes — Gold Mine, Stampede, Showdown, and the High Noon wizard mode finale
  • Bronco Loop and River Adventure Ramp — dedicated shots for Buckin’ Bronco and White Water scoring sequences
  • Only 903 units ever produced — genuinely rare, with strong demand in the collector market

How Cactus Canyon Plays

You start as the newly appointed lawman of Cactus Canyon, and nearly every shot on the table ties back to a specific Western storyline. The Gold Mine sits left-center on the playfield and begins closed — hit it enough times and it gradually opens, eventually letting you lock balls there to start Gold Mine Multiball. When the Mother Lode is lit, the mine door repeatedly opens and closes, turning a simple shot into a real test of timing.

Shoot the Bank Robbery ramp three times to qualify Stampede Multiball, take on the Bronco Loop for Buckin’ Bronco and Wild Ride scoring, or head to the River Adventure Ramp to trigger Save Polly Peril mode as she’s tied to the train tracks. Knock down all four Bad Guy drop targets and build toward High Noon at the OK Corral, the game’s wizard mode finale, where you face off against Bart himself with bonus time added for every enemy you’ve already defeated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Cactus Canyon Pinball Machine?

It’s a 1998 Western-themed pinball table by Bally, designed by Tom Kopera and Matt Coriale. It’s known as the last traditional pinball machine Bally/Williams ever produced, featuring a moving gold mine, popup Bad Guy drop targets, and four multiball modes.

How rare is the original Cactus Canyon pinball machine?

Only 903 units were ever produced, since production was cut short to make way for the company’s shift to Pinball 2000. That makes it one of the rarer late-90s Bally titles, with strong demand among collectors.

Is this the original 1998 machine or the Chicago Gaming remake?

This listing is the original 1998 Bally/Williams machine, not the modern Chicago Gaming remake released in 2021 and after. The original has a simpler ruleset since its code was never fully completed before production ended.

What does the Gold Mine feature do?

The mine starts closed and gradually opens as you hit it. Landing balls there lets you lock toward Gold Mine Multiball, and when the Mother Lode jackpot is lit, the mine door opens and closes repeatedly for a genuine timing challenge.

What condition is this machine in?

This unit is refurbished and fully tested before it ships — not sold as-is. Reach out for current availability and lead time on this specific listing.

Does this machine come with a warranty?

Yes. Every machine we sell — including the Cactus Canyon Pinball Machine — is backed by a warranty and direct support after delivery.
